  1. Why is College Night free?

College Night is free to students, their parents, high school guidance counselors and others seeking information on colleges and universities because the sponsoring institutions pay to support your use of this Website. For sponsoring colleges, College Night is a convenient, inexpensive way to inform you of their academic offerings, student activities, admission requirements, financial aid options, and other benefits for attending their colleges.

  2. Are there any hidden fees?

Absolutely not. You can look at as many institutions as you want, come back to College Night as often as you wish, and, hopefully, tell your friends about College Night and not pay a penny.

  3. How does College Night work?

Picture yourself entering a college night at your high school. You walk in, look around, decide which colleges you want to talk to, and go to them. In College Night, you let your cursor do the walking. Basically, you scroll down your screen until you see a college or university logo or name you want to explore. Point and click on it, and you will be taken directly to that institution's admission page. From there you can explore the rest of the college's home page.

  4. Is there a quicker way to find a college in College Night?

Yes, just look at the Index of Participating Colleges. Choose the college you want by simply clicking your mouse.

  5. Am I under any obligation to the colleges I select?

None at all. Unless you choose to sign a particular collegs's guest book, fill out a form, send an email, or in some other way indicate your presence, they will not know you have looked at them.

  6. Can I use College Night to apply to the participating colleges?

That depends on the colleges you select. Some have their own online application capability, others do not. Some will allow you to use our online application because they don't have their own, while some only want you to apply using their standard paper application. Either way, the colleges you select will make sure you get an application when you request one.

  7. Some colleges require signatures on the application. How will this be done using College Night?

If you apply using a particular college's online application, that college will usually send you a card and ask you to sign and return it, which acknowledges that you applied by the Internet. Usually, if the application fee is charged, they will also ask you to send that at the same time.

  8. What happens after I contact a college through College Night?

Once you begin contact with a college, they become responsible for all follow-up. College Night is then out of the process entirely. However, if a college does not respond to you, we would like to help. Send us an email.

  9. How often are new colleges added to College Night?

Potentially, daily. When we get a college sponsor, we add them that day. So check College Night often.

  10. What are the qualifications for a college to participate in College Night?

To participate, a college must be a college eligible to receive Federal financial aid funds. This status requires some type of accreditation beyond the state or local level.  What this means to you is participating colleges maintain satisfactory levels of academic performance to assure you a quality education, their academic credits are transferable to comparable institutions, and they qualify for federal and state financial aid programs

  11. Who is behind College Night?

The principals behind College Night are Consultants for Educational Resources and Research (CERR) and Internet College Exchange (ICX). CERR is an enrollment management firm, working with college admission offices for more than 30 years. ICX is an innovative Internet college search service with more national recognition than any other firm dedicated to working with colleges on the Web.

  12. How is College Night better than other similar services?

First, we've got to ask you, "What similar services?" We are certain there will be imitators eventually, but so far there are no similar services of which we know. The search engines on the Web only allow students to look up one college at a time.
